Zoo™

A national survey, conducted in October 2006 by Kelton Research on behalf of InfoSpace, confirms a major concern held by many parents: approximately 75% of kids aged 8-13 search the Internet unfiltered. And most kids surveyed indicated that they use the Internet without parental supervision.

Seeing the need for a relevant and kid-friendly search experience, InfoSpace developed Zoo™, which lets kids search the Internet while steering clear of sexually explicit content and other inappropriate material.

A search on Zoo™ starts by pulling relevant search results from Google, Yahoo!, and Wikipedia and news results from ABC News, Fox News, and Yahoo! News. From there, a combination of an advanced Web filtering solution and the restriction of more than 50,000 "adult" words and phrases delivers a highly filtered search experience that still gives kids access to a broad set of fun, meaningful, and appropriate results.
